Resist

The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence becomes an act of rebellion.
-Albert Camus

Dear Lord, we find ourselves today between Albert Camus and the Apostle Peter, summoned to a courage and confidence big enough to push against the confining and controlling powers of this world and the demonic lure of despair. Help us find faith in the fact that you know this place of peril and that you have made a way through it which we can follow. Your Easter rising is a green and growing resistance in which we are welcome and from which we draw strength and joy. Give us grace to take hold of your promise of forgiveness and your power to redeem even our foes from their folly. Embolden us to bend the hard arc of history towards the spacious place of shalom, in which all captives are liberated, all debts canceled, and all bodies are free. Teach us your peace; give us holy hunger for your justice.

Amen

Discipline yourselves, keep alert. Like a roaring lion your adversary the devil prowls around, looking for someone to devour. Resist him, steadfast in your faith, for you know that your brothers and sisters in all the world are undergoing the same kinds of suffering.
-1 Peter 5:8-9
