Sing

I'd rather learn from one bird how to sing than teach ten thousand stars how not to dance.-e. e. cummings

Today’s devotion is a song. I got to attend the final choir concert of my bonus daughter’s high school career this evening, and one of the pieces seemed to me so lovely and hopeful and free that it pulled me into a few moments of rapt, attentive, peace. I hope it offers you this gift as well, wherever you are. Here’s a link to the piece, When the Earth Stands Still, as performed by its composer, Don MacDonald:

Here it is tenderly held and released by the Luther College Nordic Choir:

So stay with me, held in my arms
Like branches of a tree
They’ll shelter you for many years.
-Don MacDonald

O sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth.-Psalm 96.1
