Hope

Hope is patience with the lamp lit.
-Tertullian

God of small steps and sudden leaps, in your liveliness all things hold together and move towards their completion. You link the imperfection of our present lives with the accomplished reality of Jesus’ resurrection and the future promise of a universe made whole. Thread this world through with the golden light of your surprising power. Burden us with patient hope in your promise to heal and restore all creation. Bless us with daily passion for the bending and mending and healing and helping that signal and celebrate your work in the world. May we become bearers of living hope for our neighbors, and shining signs of welcome peace. Amen.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. By his great mercy he has given us a new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading.
-1 Peter 1:3-4
